Who is Brooklyner?

I'm not from New York, but after more than 10 years of living here I consider myself a New Yorker. I'm not from Brooklyn, have lived here less than 4 years, but I really like it here, and I don't think I'll be leaving any time soon. I call myself a Brooklyn-er. It's really interesting to see how Brooklyn has become so popular over the last 5 years or so. Or at least part of Brooklyn have become popular. With a specific part of the population. Everyone seems to be claiming Brooklyn as their own personal discovery. Judging by T-shirts, stickers and flyers I see in my 'hood, people are one-upping eachother about who's "Brooklyner"...? Funny, no?
